Virtual and augmented reality exploration is a great way to engage any student, whether you're a cloud-based call center or a university lecturer. Eighty percent of students rated virtual trips or events very highly in research exploring their attitudes toward them.
Fremont, CA: With VR and augmented reality, distance learning can go much further than prerecorded video tutorials with laggy connections. VR and AR are very effective in distance learning, as we have compiled the top five ways to use them.
Classroom Gaming Despite the fact that game-based learning sounds like an online lecturer's nightmare, it can actually be quite useful. Educators will spend around $1.5 billion on gamification this year. Research shows that students who have used gamification have scored 14 percent higher on skills-based tests.

VR versions of the Great Pyramids don't replace the real thing, of course. VR field trips are a great alternative, however, with the current pandemic and international travel being halted. VR headsets allow students to explore the ice caps and historic ruins.
Practical Tasks
Distance learning has the disadvantage of lacking a practical component. VR and AR can bridge the gap between distance and real-life learning; they can combine theory and practice. Students' retention and quality of learning can be increased by 90% through virtual practice.
The disadvantage of distance learning is that it can cause constant distractions, especially if it's conducted from home without an optimized setup for working from home. Videos can sometimes be useful, but with headphones and a virtual headset, a student can completely immerse themselves in the practical task at hand. They learn better in this environment.
Overcoming Language Barriers
Almost everyone has been in a situation where they’ve had to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak their language at all or very well. This can often happen in call centers that don’t implement skills-based routing, and the agent that you speak to can’t comprehend your request.
Learning a second language is a challenge for anyone’s brain. Not only do you have to constantly transfer between your mother tongue and the new language, you actually have to retain information that you never knew before. This is pretty common in the U.S. Data shows that 15% of adults speak a language that isn’t English at home.
Special Learning
Students with learning disabilities can benefit from VR in terms of education and quality of life. Controlling external stimuli, such as audio or visual, is key to the virtual world. Students with sensory disorders can be gradually introduced to these triggers, ensuring that they can have a safe and enjoyable experience.
